Being chic is not about the most fashionable clothes, it's about what makes you feel comfortable and what style suits you.

- Choose what suits you. Wearing longer skirts is an interesting and stylish alternative to the ever popular minis skirt. Skirts that are too short look trashy, but that doesn't mean a shorter skirt can't be chic - It's all about balance. If you are wearing a shorter skirt, if necessary wear tights/stockings underneath, or if you are going bare legged, make sure you aren't showing off a lot of cleavage as well. Go for either legs or cleavage if you must, but not both! A fail proof option is a slim fitting skirt that is knee length or lower, with a thin belt. If you don’t like skirts, wear some nice slacks, not the granny kind of slacks but the slacks at stores like Express and Forever 21. Wear skinny pants during the winter, in colors such as: white, black velvet, and green corduroy are good options. Luxurious jewel tones, like emerald and ruby add refined elegance to any Winter outfit. Cardigans are good options for sweaters to keep warm during the winter and spring, since it is mild in spring. You can also wear cute cream colored sweaters in the winter with hoods or denim jackets. Don't wear labeled hoodies (for example you have a hoodie that says Abercrombie and Fitch on it.) for those are very sloppy. Classic shoes are: ballet flats and heels, but only get the heels if you know how to walk in them. Excluding outdoor activities, aim to wear event-appropriate heels to anything after dark. Brogues and summer sandals are chic and simple alternatives for more summery or outdoorsy shoes.
- Style your hair in a classic style. Wash your hair with volumizing shampoo and conditioner. Spray a root boosting spray on the roots. Put a heat protecting serum on. Blow dry your hair upside down. Curl your hair with rollers or a flat iron for chic and glamorous waves. Hairspray to lock in the curls/waves. Add a chic headband. You can wear this hairstyle everyday, but don't be afraid to mix it up, by trying a chic low ponytail, chignons, a bun or a plait. To take it to a night look, do the same thing but before you curl, grab a section at the crown, spray some hairspray, and tease with a teasing comb. Then do this 2 more times with more sections under it. Then curl and when you’re done curling and spraying throw it up in a claw clip in a halfway twist. For an elegant up-do great for any special event when you want to look chic. To revive your hair from all the heat, teasing, and spraying, try using Pantene Pro-V Strengthening Mask once a week so you can have as little damage as possible.
- Don't be afraid to get called names. .There are a lot of teenagers that only wear Abercrombie, Hollister, Aeropostale and other stupid brand names. If you look different make fun of you. That's how life is. If they don't like you, shake it off and find some other friends that accept you for who you are.
- Try on lots of clothes before you go out.Make sure you try on everything and see what looks best. Don't be afraid to take your time because you want to make sure you look your absolute best when you go out.
- Put on accessories that clash a key color in what you are wearing. Lovely flower accessories are great for looking chic. Wear pearls in the day and wear diamonds at night. They don't have to be real, but just make them gleam.
- Look natural and light. Wear light makeup. Only wear concealer, foundation, blush, and mascara. And wear light body spray that is fresh and feminine.
- Most importantly, show off your beautiful smile and sweet personality. Be an interesting conversationalist by being genuinely interested in the other person and don't be fake or pretentious. A beautiful personality is the final key to being truly chic.
